Tosca (Calgary Opera)

Tosca is one of the most performed operas in the world. Puccini's 1900 thriller squeezes a singer, her painter lover and a corrupt police chief into 18 tense hours in Rome in June 1800, and it is home to the famous aria Vissi d'arte. Calgary Opera opens its 2026/27 season with it, joined by the Calgary Philharmonic, the Calgary Opera Chorus and the Cantaré Children's Choir. It's sung in Italian with projected English captions and runs 2 hours 25 minutes with one intermission. A free Opera Talk starts an hour before each show in the First Balcony lobby, and tickets are sold only through Calgary Opera, not Ticketmaster.
