48th Western Canadian Hungarian Folk Festival (Folk dance gala and dance nights)

This year Calgary's Vadrózsa hosts the 48th Western Canadian Hungarian Folk Festival, its first turn as host since 2016. Guest musicians, dance instructors and folk-dance groups come from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and B.C., and the program says hundreds of dancers and musicians take part. For spectators, the centrepiece is Saturday's staged gala at Bella Concert Hall. The evening táncház sessions at the Delta Hotels Calgary South follow the Hungarian dance-house model, a participatory way of passing on dance and music traditions, and Sunday morning has workshops. Vadrózsa has been incorporated since 1974.
