Paulaner Official Oktoberfest 2026 (Trackside Oktoberfest and horse racing)
Pretzels, brass band and $50,000 stakes races
Century Downs is a horse-racing track and casino just north of the city, and for one Saturday it throws a Bavarian-style Oktoberfest trackside. The race card is the CTHS Alberta Sales Stakes: four races, each worth $50,000 in prize money, open only to Canadian-bred thoroughbreds sold through sales sanctioned by the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society. Between races there's a German menu, from salt pretzels and bratwurst to goulash soup, crispy pork hock and apple strudel, plus imported Paulaner Oktoberfest beer. Brasstactics plays live brass, and there are stein-holding and pretzel-eating contests with prizes.
