CIBC Run for the Cure (Breast cancer fundraising walk or run)

The CIBC Run for the Cure is the Canadian Cancer Society's national breast cancer fundraiser, held in more than 50 communities on the same Sunday, with the bank CIBC as title sponsor. It started in Toronto's High Park in 1992. Participants register, raise money, then walk or run 1 km or 5 km, and nobody is timed. Survivors and people living with breast cancer can wear a pink Participant of Hope shirt. Opening ceremonies are at 7:30 AM. Run day is cashless, so donate online or at a CIBC branch beforehand. Calgary had raised more than $755,000 by September 30.
