2026 Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival (Free hot-air balloon festival in High River)
Walk among glowing balloons Friday after dark
The Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival is a free September festival in High River, about 68 km south of Calgary. Balloons go up in group Fiesta Flights in the calm air just after sunrise and before sunset, and this year the launches and the Balloon Glow share one site, Wallaceville on Centre Street. On Friday from 7:30 to 8:30 PM, instead of flying, pilots hold their balloons upright on the ground and fire the burners together so they glow, and a walk-in balloon lets you step inside. Saturday flights are at 7:30 AM and 5:15 PM, and the final flight is Sunday at 7:30 AM. Flights need light winds, so they can be called off late, and passenger rides are sold out.
