YYC Music Awards

The YYC Music Awards are Calgary's annual awards night for local musicians and the people behind them, and this is the 11th edition. Trophies go out in 29 categories across recordings, artistry and the industry, covering everything from rock, country, jazz, metal, classical and children's music to songwriter, music video, live venue and music educator. Nominees are chosen over two rounds by an anonymous jury of local industry peers, with a separate People's Choice Award, and artists must live within 125 km of Calgary. The show traditionally includes four or five live performances by nominees. Last year's 10th anniversary gala also launched the YYC Hitmakers Hall of Fame.
