Beethoven Lives Upstairs (Family orchestra story concert)

Beethoven Lives Upstairs is a family concert that mixes live orchestra with theatre. The story follows Christoph, a boy who is unhappy when an eccentric, moody man moves into the flat upstairs and turns out to be Ludwig van Beethoven, and the composer's music runs through the drama as it unfolds. The Calgary Philharmonic plays under conductor Monica Chen, with Classical Kids Live!, the company behind a long-running series of dramatized composer stories for children. It is the orchestra's single Sunday matinee for kids this weekend, built so young listeners can follow along without knowing anything about classical music. Before the show, the Instrument Discovery Zoo in the lobby lets children see orchestra instruments up close.
